Sometimes the right opportunity can change the course of your life.
After working alongside nurses in a previous healthcare career, Lindsay knew she had found her calling.
“I was inspired by their knowledge, compassion, and the meaningful work they did every day,” she said.
She dreamed of becoming a nurse herself—but getting there wasn’t easy. Because she already held a bachelor’s degree, she didn’t qualify for federal financial aid, and scholarships alone weren’t enough to cover the cost of nursing school.
Balancing the demands of her program with work left her wondering how she would ever make her dream a reality.
That’s when the NCWorks Career Center – Haywood County WIOA National Dislocated Worker Grant program stepped in.
With assistance covering tuition and required nursing supplies, Lindsay was able to focus on what mattered most—earning her degree and building the future she had always envisioned.
The result? She graduated summa cum laude and accepted a position on her dream nursing unit.
