Foster Grandparent Project Director

Mountain Projects is seeking a Foster Grandparent Project Director:

Join a team who actively works in our Community to provide seniors an opportunity to work with our youngest members of our community, our children:

This person will be actively involved with community organizations, AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers, and volunteer stations in assessing volunteer needs in the community and planning and developing all phases of the project operation.

Will provide coordinated pre-service orientation, in service instruction, and overall supervision of AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers. Will attend training conferences conducted or authorized by AmeriCorps. Will prepare and submit applications and requests for amendments in the electronic grants system.

Minimum qualifications include an Associate Degree and five years’ experience with seniors. Computer literacy is a must.

Position responsibilities include supporting developmentally appropriate instructional plans, engaging with all children during instruction (including children with identified specialized needs), and promoting positive behavior management. Our staff support  the facilitation of developmental screenings, on-going assessments, and recording of outcome data in order to determine future instruction as well as participate in home visits and parent-teacher conferences as requested by the teacher.

Minimum Qualifications: Supervisory experience working with diverse populations. Mountain Projects, Inc. Head Start/Early Head Start program is looking for an individual who cares about their community and wants to make a difference and improve the lives of children and families.

This leadership position is responsible for the supervision of four childcare classrooms (two preschool classrooms and two Infant/Toddler classrooms) on the campus of Western Carolina University. This position is a great opportunity for an individual seeking a change in career!

Preferred Qualifications: A four-year degree in Child Development, Early Education or a related field. Type of Skills Needed: Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, parents, and children; ability to work skillfully with diverse populations; requires multi-tasking, problem solving, making good decisions and basic computer skills.

Other requirements, if applicable: Must be able to build and support a team with co-workers. Must be committed and inspired by  working with diverse populations. Must have a valid driver license and car insurance. Occasional out of town travel is required. Must pass a criminal background check along with random drug testing.

Affordable Housing Manager

Mountain Projects is seeking a full-time Affordable Housing Manager. The Affordable Housing Manager is tasked with developing and expanding affordable workforce housing opportunities in our service area, by managing the Self Help Housing Program and Housing Counseling Center. Necessary skills and experience include public speaking, written communications, strong leadership, fundraising, grant writing and project management. Affordable Housing Manager Description

Safety/Operations, Training and Compliance – Haywood County

Mountain Projects/Haywood Public Transit is looking for an individual who enjoys advocating for others and shares in the mission of Mountain Projects while striving every day to help others.

Applicants are required to pass a Pre-Employment Drug Test, Criminal Background Check and have a clean driving record. A CDL license is preferred. A Degree or Experience in Public Service, Transportation, and/or Safety is required and/or desired. Applicants will assist in New Driver Training, Quarterly Safety Training, and are responsible for Vehicle Safety and Maintenance Compliance. Periodically this position will be expected to Dispatch and Drive as schedule and needs of the organization require. Haywood Public Transit utilizes several software programs that assist in Scheduling and Vehicle Maintenance. A person hired in this position will be trained in these areas and will be responsible daily to assure that requirements are met at a high standard. Applicant must be able to bend, lift and push a wheelchair, learn to operate lift equipment, assist elderly and disabled passengers. Detailed paperwork and good communications skills required. Participation in the Random Drug Testing Pool is required.

Duty hours are flexible (40 hours per week). This position is a full-time position with a total benefit package that includes 13+ paid holidays. Haywood Public Transit operates Monday thru Friday.

Transit Driver Part-Time – Haywood County

Mountain Projects is recruiting Part-Time Transit Drivers.  Must be willing to work flexible hours up to 29 hours per week. Must have a good knowledge of Haywood County; possess a valid NC driver’s license with a good driving record.  The Federal Transit Authority requires that all transit employees participate in a drug and alcohol screening program and all related continuing education programs.

Job Description – Transit Driver

Driver/Cook – PT Jackson County

Great opportunity to work with weekends and holidays off.

We have the opening for someone that enjoys driving and would like to deliver fresh hot meals to Child Care and Senior Center facilities. You will also help in the kitchen with meal preparation and packing.

This position will be between 20-30 hours per week and comes with sick, holiday and vacation paid leave.
