We’re proud to share that Mountain Projects has been selected as one of only 265 Public Housing Authorities nationwide to administer the new HUD-VASH Voucher Program.
After nearly a year of applications, review, and approval by HUD, our Section 8 team has officially been awarded five HUD-VASH vouchers, with the program launching August 1, 2026, in partnership with the Asheville VA Medical Center.
HUD-VASH combines Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance with VA case management and clinical services to help veterans experiencing homelessness find and maintain stable housing.
This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our Section 8 team, who demonstrated the need for this program in our region, maintained excellent standing with HUD, showed the capacity to successfully administer the program, and built a strong partnership with the VA.

Veterans interested in the HUD-VASH program will be referred directly through the VA, so referrals will come from the Asheville VA Medical Center.
