Are you a rising sophomore, junior, or senior who wants real-world experience in nonprofit work this summer? Mountain Projects is excited to offer paid internship opportunities in both our Section 8 and Head Start programs through the Nonprofit Internship Program (NPIP)!
This statewide program matches students with nonprofits for an 8-week paid summer internship where you can gain hands-on experience in areas like community outreach, program support, communications, and more — all while making a meaningful impact in Western North Carolina. Interns receive a stipend of $5,760 for the summer. 
Program Details:
- 8-week summer internship, starting around late May 2026
- Paid stipend of $5,760
- Opportunities with both Section 8 and Head Start teams
- Connect with other interns across North Carolina and participate in professional development sessions
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a North Carolina resident
- Must be Pell Grant-eligible
- Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior at a four-year college/university
