Senior Services
The mission of the Haywood County Senior Resource Center is to equip and empower older adults in Haywood County to live in their own homes as long as they wish. We help them do so safely by maximizing community resources and building collaborations.
Senior Resource Center
The Mountain Projects Senior Resource Center hosts and conducts a broad range of programs, activities and services from its well-equipped facility in Waynesville.
Congregate Nutrition
The Congregate Nutrition Program is available in three locations in Haywood County. This program provides a nutritionally balanced meal, crafts, health promotion, seminars, field trips, bingo, and a time to socialize. The Congregate Nutrition Program is available free of charge to anyone age 60 or over. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to participate, for a nominal fee.
Foster Grandparents
The Foster Grandparent Program, founded in 1965, is a federally funded program through the Corporation of National Service that provides opportunities for seniors to impact the lives of children in their community. The Foster Grandparent Program is funded for the seven western counties of North Carolina including Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon, Swain and the Qualla Boundary.
