HOP Food Assistant

Under the supervision of the HOP Coordinator, this position works one-on-one with families of the HOP program to create plans to help each family achieve long-term success.

  • Possesses knowledge of HOP to ensure invoices and documentation is accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Familiarity with HOP practices and procedures in regard to UNITE US and Impact Health.
  • Individualized approaches to working with families based on culture, values, unique needs, etc.
  • Cooperate with all departments within Mountain Projects to provide services to families within the community.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records
  • Documentation will be ongoing.  Maintain strong communication with HOP coordinator on a regular basis.
  • Communicate with families when needed and follow-up in a timely manner.
  • Meet with families to build positive relationships and work towards family goal setting and maintain ongoing communication.
  • Build relationships with clients.
  • Build relationships with community resources and partners.
  • Adheres to Mountain Projects policy and procedures including monitoring phone usage.
  • Participates in ongoing in-service and educational development opportunities provided by the agency.  Participates in community activities with Mountain Projects staff.
  • Report to supervisor immediately any suspicion of waste, fraud, abuse of any program property, supplies, etc.
  • Any other job-related assignments that may require or be deemed advisable by supervisor.

 Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, Associate’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
  • North Carolina Drivers License
  • Experience with computers including Microsoft suite.

Head Start Teacher-full time (Haywood and Jackson County)

Minimum qualifications are a Child Development Associate Certificate or Preschool Certificate. Preferred qualifications are an Early Childhood Education degree from an accredited community college. Supervisory experience working with diverse populations.

Has lead responsibility for the primary care of children enrolled in the classroom. Develops and utilizes daily lesson plans, across all domains that are developmentally appropriate for all children. Our staff support the facilitation of developmental screenings, on-going assessments, and recording of outcome data to determine future instruction as well as participate in home visits and parent-teacher conferences as requested by the teacher.

Valid driver license and insurance are required. Some travel required and home visits may be necessary. Criminal background checks along with drug testing are required.

Teacher Assistant (Kneedler Center, WCU)

Assist teacher in implementing all educational and developmental aspects of the Head Start Program in the classroom. Floater, two openings (Haywood)

Activity Coordinator at the Senior Resource Center

The Activity Coordinator plans and organizes activities that provide socialization, cognitive exercise, and fun to seniors in our community.

Duties include: coordinating, scheduling, prepping, and marketing for in-house speaker presentations, art and/or craft classes, holiday luncheons, trips, and other activities. This position requires excellent communication, organizational, and event planning skills, creativity, and a positive and can-do attitude!

Job Duties:
•     Develop and oversee programming for senior adults
•     Meet with clients and review senior services options
•     Maintain necessary records and databases
•     Prepare marketing documents and social media sites
•     Maintain MySeniorCenter software program
•     Research and write grants as appropriate

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: Degree in human services field or equivalent in experience or 3+ years of activities/program planning experience

Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree in Human Services, Grant writing experience; Previous experience working with seniors and strong organizational and planning skills.

Senior Nutrition Centers

Nutrition Site Manager

This position is responsible for the management of a nutrition site, record keeping, planning and outreach. Candidates must have effective oral and written communication and listening skills, computer skills are a must, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Experience in management, activity planning, and working with the senior population is helpful. This position requires the ability to lift at least 35 lbs. The position is part-time 3 days per week, 4 hours daily from morning through lunch service. Full-Time Transit Driver

Responsible for regular routes, medical and general public transportation for non-emergency appointments and hospital discharges. Will be required to work an adjusted, flex schedule Monday – Friday. Must have a North Carolina Driver’s license. Must maintain a current, valid DOT physical certificate if a CDL license is required.

Must be able to assist Elderly and Disabled Individuals. • Must be able to secure wheelchairs by pushing, kneeling, and stooping. • Must adhere to all FTA Physical requirements and restrictions. • Ability to use tablets and two way radios. • Must be available to report in the case of an emergency response.

Part-time Transit Driver

Would you be interested in helping neighbors maintain independence and self-sufficiency by providing them with transportation?

Mountain Projects, Inc. is seeking a Part-time Transit Driver. Drivers are responsible for regular routes, medical and general transportation for non-emergency appointments. Part-time drivers are required to work a flexible schedule, Monday to Friday. Knowledge of Haywood County and local landmarks is required. Organizing daily activities and being able to multi-task is a requirement. A valid driver license and insurance are required. Drivers must have a clean driving record with no incidents of speeding, reckless driving
or impaired driving record. Criminal background checks along with drug testing are conducted prior to employment.

Lending Specialist

Smoky Mountain Housing Partnership, the affordable housing department of Mountain Projects, is dedicated to creating and sustaining affordable housing opportunities for individuals and families in our community. We are seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Lending Specialist to join our team. The role involves screening clients for mortgage readiness, packaging USDA 502 Direct home loans, and facilitating down payment assistance.

  • Screen and assess clients for eligibility for various mortgage products.
  • Review income, debts, assets, and credit to determine client readiness for homeownership.
  • Package USDA 502 Direct loans in compliance with federal requirements.
  • Facilitate down payment assistance loans through NCHFA’s Community Partner Loan Pool (CPLP).
  • Maintain accurate and complete client records in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth processing and approval of loans.
  • Stay up-to-date on different mortgage/down payment programs, regulations, and eligibility requirements.
  • Make referrals for additional services needed by the client(s).
  • Support team in affordable housing development initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of various mortgage types, homeownership vernacular, and the homebuying process are preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with loan processing experience.
  • Upon hire, complete USDA 502 Section 502 Packaging Training and pass certification exam.
  • Associates degree or hire preferred.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely; good writing and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
