For more than 30 years, Christie has poured her heart into serving the children and families of Haywood and Jackson Counties, championing early childhood education and support through her work with Head Start. From her start as a Center Supervisor in 1994 to her current role as Director, Christie’s journey is one of dedication, compassion, and impact.

With over 25 years as the Disabilities Coordinator, she has been a lifeline for countless families, ensuring every child receives the services and support they need to thrive. Under her leadership, the program has taken bold steps toward equity—including increasing staff wages to meet local living wage standards.

Christie’s career is a testament to what it means to lead through service. Her induction into the NCCAA Hall of Fame is more than well-deserved—it’s a recognition of a lifetime spent lifting up others.
