HOP (Healthy Opportunities Pilot) Construction Tech

Eligibility/Outreach Specialist – full time
This person will interview and process clients’ applications and verify income for them to
receive assistance from a variety of resources both internal and external. Specialists work with clients in emergency situations to quickly resolve issues. Specialists enjoy working with people, must be proficient in data entry, will be able to multi-task, and are organized. This position works with other human service providers when referring client for services. Specialists work effectively with families with diverse social, economic, and educational backgrounds.
Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
Knowledge of community resources. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Family Self-Sufficiency Coordinator – part time
Mountain Projects is seeking a part-time Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Coordinator to administer the Family Self-Sufficiency program for the Section 8 department for 20 hours each week, adhering to HUD regulations. This national program helps families with Section 8 vouchers improve their own lives through individualized case management.
The position requires strong communication and planning skills. The ideal candidate has the passion to help families set and meet goals, increase income, and build a more sustainable living. Associates degree or relevant experience preferred.
A pre-employment drug test, driving record and background check are required.

Head Start Teacher-full time (Haywood and Jackson County)

Minimum qualifications are a Child Development Associate Certificate or Preschool Certificate. Preferred qualifications are an Early Childhood Education degree from an accredited community college. Supervisory experience working with diverse populations.
Has lead responsibility for the primary care of children enrolled in the classroom. Develops and utilizes daily lesson plans, across all domains that are developmentally appropriate for all children. Our staff support the facilitation of developmental screenings, on-going assessments, and recording of outcome data to determine future instruction as well as participate in home visits and parent-teacher conferences as requested by the teacher.
Valid driver license and insurance are required. Some travel required and home visits may be necessary. Criminal background checks along with drug testing are required.

Teacher Assistant (Kneedler Center, WCU)

Floater, two openings (Haywood)

Assist teaching staff with all educational and developmental aspects of the Head Start Program in the classroom. Rotates throughout the program to assist classroom staff as needed.

Navigator / Certified Application Counselor
Are you an outgoing person who enjoys helping people every day? Do you think access to affordable healthcare is important for all? Mountain Projects Community Action Agency has positions open in Macon, Clay, and Cherokee counties to provide free, unbiased in-person or virtual assistance and outreach to assist consumers with Marketplace insurance plans or Medicaid enrollment. This is not a work-from-home position.
Certified Application Counselor – Macon County
Are you an outgoing person with a passion for equitable access to healthcare in rural Western NC? Mountain Projects, Inc. is immediately seeking a full-time Certified Application Counselor for Haywood County. This is a grant-funded position.
Job Duties:
Conduct education and outreach to uninsured individuals and community partner agencies
Share information regarding the Federally-facilitated Marketplace, including:
Eligibility requirements for federal tax subsidies and cost-sharing subsidies.
Eligibility for Qualified Health Plans on the FFM, Medicaid and North Carolina’s Health Choice and how to enroll in qualified health plans, Medicaid, and Health Choice on the marketplace website.
Meet with individuals and facilitate plan selection based on the needs of the individual/family or the small business seeking health insurance coverage, assess tax implications and premium and cost-sharing requirements, application submission, renewal, and disenrollment processes.
Help people understand how premium tax credits work and their potential financial impact.
Facilitate eligibility determinations for qualified health plans, Medicaid, and Health Choice and premium tax subsidies.
Provide referrals to appropriate agencies, including the North Carolina Department of Insurance for applicants and enrollees with grievances, complaints, questions, or need for other social services.
Qualifications: Candidates applying for this position should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work autonomously and with other team members.
- Experience with Medicaid, VA, Medicare, Individual health insurance and safety net health care providers.
- Prior experience assisting clients.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft outlook
- Public Speaking experience
- Willingness to travel up to 50%

Nutrition Site Manager
Transit Administrative Assistant, full time
This position is responsible for the following:
- Receiving and scheduling service requests.
- Maintain radio communications to drivers.
- Manager driver’s hours and approve overtime.
- Receive comments/complaints and report to Director.
- Work with all administrative staff to ensure the system software is correct and up to date.
- Obtain approval from the Director schedules, driver work hours, and time off requests.
- Responsible for weekly billing and always up to date.
- This person will report directly to the Transit Director.
Minimum qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent,
- Skills: data entry and customer service skills.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, Monday through Friday and work in emergency situations when needed.

Transit Driver
Responsible for regular routes, medical and general public transportation for non-emergency appointments and hospital discharges. Will be required to work an adjusted, flex schedule Monday – Friday. Must have a North Carolina Driver’s license. Must maintain a current, valid DOT physical certificate if a CDL license is required.
Must be able to assist Elderly and Disabled Individuals. • Must be able to secure wheelchairs by pushing, kneeling, and stooping. • Must adhere to all FTA Physical requirements and restrictions. • Ability to use tablets and two way radios. • Must be available to report in the case of an emergency response.

Part-time Transit Driver

Mountain Projects, Inc. is seeking a Part-time Transit Driver. Drivers are responsible for regular routes, medical and general transportation for non-emergency appointments. Part-time drivers are required to work a flexible schedule, Monday to Friday. Knowledge of Haywood County and local landmarks is required. Organizing daily activities and being able to multi-task is a requirement. A valid driver license and insurance are required. Drivers must have a clean driving record with no incidents of speeding, reckless driving
